Permanent protection, no moving parts

A fixed bollard bolts straight to a concrete slab through a welded base plate. There's no sleeve, no key, nothing to lift out — it's the simplest option where the location never needs to open for vehicles.

Both sizes are heavy-gauge carbon steel with a 3mm wall, powder-coated safety yellow with a red reflective band. The 90mm and 140mm differ in diameter, height and base plate size — the 140mm is a taller, heavier bollard for locations that need a stronger physical deterrent.

Sizing

Choosing 90mm or 140mm

Fixed bollards don't need to match a sleeve size, so the choice is purely about the level of protection the location needs.

  • 90mm (900mm tall) — general-purpose protection for shopfronts, building corners and low-speed pedestrian areas.
  • 140mm (1300mm tall) — a taller, heavier bollard for higher-traffic vehicle areas, loading docks and locations wanting maximum visual deterrent.
  • Fixed vs removable — if the location ever needs to open fully for vehicles, a removable bollard on a sleeve is worth considering instead.

Installation

How they go in — short version

We supply only, but here's the outline so you can scope the job. Detailed guidance is supplied with every order.

  1. Mark & drill

    Position the bollard, mark the base plate holes and drill into the slab.

  2. Anchor

    Fix with M10 concrete anchors, typically 100–150mm long depending on slab thickness. Check for services with a wall or slab scanner before drilling.

Always locate underground services before drilling or anchoring. Installation is the responsibility of the purchaser or their contractor — SafeWise supplies product only.

Common questions

What's the difference between the 90mm and 140mm fixed bollard?

The 90mm fixed bollard is 89mm diameter and 900mm tall on a 225mm base plate. The 140mm is a larger, taller bollard at 1300mm with a 250mm base plate — a bigger physical presence for higher-traffic vehicle areas. Both are 3mm wall carbon steel.

Can fixed bollards be removed later?

Not without unbolting them. Fixed bollards are surface mounted with concrete anchors through the base plate, so they're a permanent installation rather than a lift-out one. If you need to open the location for vehicles from time to time, a removable bollard on an in-ground sleeve is the better fit.

How are fixed bollards installed?

Mark and drill the base plate holes, then fix to the slab with M10 concrete anchors, typically 100mm to 150mm long depending on slab thickness. Always check for underground services with a scanner before drilling.

Do fixed bollards need a minimum concrete thickness?
